Overboost Protection

Thanks for everybodys help. Lately my 86 951 has started to do a very annoying thing. Once in a while while I'm rolling on the throttle in the mid range of the rpm band the car will start to accelerate and then BAM it feels like it has hit a wall. I have watched the boost gage and it wasn't even at an indicated 1.4 bar. It usually happens when I am cruising at about 40 and roll on the throttle. This morning while getting on the freeway I had reved out first then second and while I was at 5K in third and an indicated 1.6 bar it hit the wall again. I was at wide open throttle this time.
I recently installed a boost enhancer but it is turned down so low that I can blow it open with just my lung power, just a few psi.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Threesticks

It seems when u mess with your boost at all it pisses the computer off. I had a shim in my wastegate without a chip and got this a ton. Finally got it out and even though it's totally back to stock (minus the cat) it still does that. Messing with boost without chips will do it.

Sounds like a problem I had. It was fixed by replacing the TPS. Also, check for vacuum leaks or maybe a bad cycling valve.

I don't think 951 has a pressure switch external of the computer, but if it does it might be this cutting off the fuel pump.
