8 valve powder coated cam tower for sale

Freshly coated glossy red cam box/tower for sale! Includes screw caps, end cap, cam gear cover and distributor mount. The "Porsche" letters are machined and then clear coated so they'll never oxidize.

Price is $260 + $40 core charge (pay $300, send me old parts, get $40 refund).

For a little extra I can assemble it with a camshaft, gear, new gaskets and seals. That way it'll be ready to just bolt on.

I can put the camshaft in for you and get it all ready for you to bolt on - you'll still have to do:
  • Put engine at TDC
  • Remove distributor cap and rotor
  • Remove timing belt covers
  • Loosen timing belt tensioner
  • Slide belt off of cam gear
  • Remove fuel rail and injectors from manifold
  • Remove cam tower
  • Put lifters into new cam tower
  • Bolt new cam tower on
  • Put fuel rail back
  • Put timing belt on cam gear
  • Tension belt
  • Put covers back on
  • Put distributor back on

The big problem with the deal is, I want my lifters to slide right back in to my cam housing. Granted it is minor work, but it takes time to incorporate lifters if you're changing the cam and housing. If you're throwing in new lifters with the deal...

Half of your lifters will fall out when you pull the cam housing off anyway...

As a special deal, I'll include 8 new lifters for only $600 extra.

can you do other colors like light blue? my cam box is already stripped and sanblasted , ready to coat. The end cap ,dist mount and cam gear still need to be blasted l, and I would like those to be aluminum or machined finish color. any price break for some slightly less work? can you have the screw caps machined /milled to match the porsche script and clear those as well?

Thanks! and looks very proffesional, and I am sure it will hold up to heat ok .

944 Cam Tower

Can you rebuild my Cam tower. 85 944
I removed it to look for noise in valve train and found nothing wrong with the head. Upon close inspection of the tower the oil that drained out contained a lot of metal flake. I fear a bad cam bearing even though it turns very smooth by hand.
Only 25K miles nut PO said he over revved the engine and is making very loud mettalic sound when RPM is increased above 1,000. Looking for any suggestions.

My guess would be the sound is rod knock due to a worn (or failed) rod bearing - and the metal flakes you're seeing up in the head have been pumped there by the oil pump. This engine probably needs a complete and thorough rebuild.

bump for Van, you guys should seriously hop on board, forget about paint, it won't hold up to anything,

Powder is the way to go for best durability and finish, and Van SERIOUSLY knows what he is doing, I'll post pics of my stuff when finished!
