Cool Porsche sitings

Today I was driving on 95 north fom stoningotn CT to Providence Place mall at about 1 and in the 50 mile stretch I saw the following:
2 924's
2 944's
and 1 996
I thought this was pretty cool considering I rarely see any other Porsches. But on my way home around 3:30 (95 south) I saw the following:
1 944
3 911's
1 dark 928
and a boxster.

Of course I was driving my wifes car (A4) and all the cars I saw were going the opposite direction. Just thought it was pretty cool seeing that not everyone stores their cars for the winter.

Lot of Porsches in one day! I've been looking out for 'em myself whenever I drive now that I have one.

I see quite a few newer Porsches around where I live (Boxsters, 996s, 993s) and also quite a bit of older ones. I usually see 3-4 944s a week, not bad considering my city has 'only' about 240,000 people.

I usually see a few each day of different models and I live in a town of 70,000 (not the total population of surrounding area), There are a lot of Porsche's running about out there.

I was visiting West Palm Beach yesterday and passed an F40, going the other way, on a back road at the beach. What a cool car. Some people are so lucky!

40K geesh! I always wondered how much these cars actually cost to maintain. Hey Bob, I was in Orlando a couple weeks ago with my car. I was at a gas station and a guy runs up to me asking about trustworthy mechanics in the area. I guess he was having some major problems with his car. Anyway, I told him to check out Pelican and ask you!

I saw a 924 on my street last week, not sure of the year, but it had phone dial wheels.

On closer inspection, the car had been beat to $hit...cigarette butts all over inside, rust on the outside, just a huge mess. I know that 924s can be purchased for very little, but that's no excuse to go out of your way to ruin one.

A few weeks ago my wife and I were going out to dinner with antoher couple. We were heading west on I-64 (US40) in St. Louis when I passed a truck. Low and behold! The three traffic lanes were side by side all Porsches!.

My '84 black 944, a silver Boxster, a guards red 911.

I don't think I've ever seen paint so crummy on a Ferrari as in that picture. Why not a nice detail job thrown in with that forty thou- in maintenance?

Cool

Maybe it's the lighting or the fact that you are looking at low resolution versions of the pic which is needed to post on here.. but I thought the car was in flat out unbelievable like new condition. Here's a couple more views....

Today I finally talked to a guy that has another 944 in the area. I have seen it around several times but never real close. Tonight at kfc it was there so I got out to take a look at it, and boy was it rough. The door was faded the mirrors were faded and there were scatches all through the paint on the hood. When I went inside and talked to the guy that owned it he said he had around 220K on it and boy did it look like it had 220K on it. He said it ran like a champ though and had no problems except it needed a paint job. But I guess if you have an 83 944 and all it needs is a paint job your not doing to bad.

lol, that's true.

There is a gold 944 just like mine that I see quite often.....I still haven't gotten a chance to talk to the owner. Its identical to mine except that it has the black Fuchs (or maybe cookie cutters- never seen it up close) instead of the gold mettalic ones on my 944.

I have talked to a few 944 owners in my town, though, and they all seem quite enthusiastic about their cars. One of my good friends lives in my neighborhood and he has a silver 1986 944. Other than him there is also a few other Porsches in my neighborhood. There is a black 964 coupe, a silver Boxster, a red 964 turbo, and a red 993 cabrio. Except for my friend, I have not gotten a chance to talk with any of their owners, but most seem to be the non-enthusiast type.
