Angry what should i do?

I had been having some problems with oil and such on my car. well, i took it in to the best Porsche repair place here in vegas, and it turns out i have a host of problems. The biggest of which is poor compression in my #2 cylander (it is @ 95-100 psi where as the other 3 are @ 130 psi). This was narrowed down to being most likely due to bad rings. Also, there is an O-ring blown out in the turbo which allowed oil to consume the engine.

add to this at least one bad CV joint, a (most likely) bad wastegate and who knows what else. I have a 86 951, which despite all these issues, i absolutely LOVE! It has 109,000 miles on the car, but i have had it for about 5 months only. I still owe money on the car ($4000) but the guy i bought it from is sympathetic to my plight and is going to help me (either help pay for fixing it or forgive a portion of what i owe him).

what would you do?

the reason i ask is because i dont know if i can afford a car like this. i mean i make the payments and all no problem, but this fix should be at least in the $3000-$4000 range and will take a month to complete. BUT on the other hand, if i gave up the car i dont know what else i would want. I mean a BMW would be nice, but i really LOVE porsches -- they are the only car that i truly love.

i just dont know what to do...

I would get a old beater car (there has to be a blue million in Vegas) for a couple of hundred and take a little time on the 951 fixing the small problems first. Did you have a leak down test done?

yep it going to be expensive and yes it's an ongoing time consuming effort, but for the reward of doing all the work and having the patience to do it right you could get a car that lasts a long long time.....a BMW is going to cost just as much as any euro car though...and anyway i figured if i have to pay rego and insurance on a car it may as well be a car worth spending the money on....Good luck ....Leadfoot
