Are all Porsche wheels made in Germany?
Are all original equipment Porsche wheels made in Germany?

Hmm...no responses...
Let me ask it this way: If a porsche fitment wheel was made in Italy, is it possible that it was an original equipment wheel? Or is it a Mille Miglia replica aftermarket wheel?

More than likely it is a replica. how much does the wheel weigh? The replica's are always heavy as hell.

I don't have any of them currently to weigh. The reason I am asking the question is because I am looking for some track wheels, and I keep seeing wheels for sale listed as "oem" and/or "factory", but then they say they are "made in Italy". I always thought Porsches came from the factory with wheels made in Germany.

Some Porsches came stock with speedline wheels (993). I'm not sure if they're made in Italy or the UK but in any case they are not made in Germany. I do believe some OEM Porsche wheels are Italian. Used listings are tough to figure with wheels. I would only buy a wheel with a Porsche part number stamped on the back. The lister should be able to provide this and ideally a photograph with the part number (962.xxx.xxx.blah.blah). One reason this is important is that some clubs won't let people run without OEM wheels (although mine does). If it has a part number on the back I would think you could be confident it was original, regardless of the country of origin.

If there is any question, ask for the part numbers on the back of the wheel. If there is no Porsche part number, its not a Porsche wheel.
You defenetley need to check your rules with your local region if this is for any type of track or auto-x type use. My local region states "No imitation Porsche wheels". This rules out Millie Miglias..etc. The reasoning behind this as i understand were replica Fuch's which were cracking. The Millie Miglias are however TUV approved i am pretty sure (basically the DOT of Europe). So its not that they are all bad wheels, its that some of them has given them a bad reputation.

Our region allows aftermarket wheels, except for immatation Fuchs.
The originals are forged. Very light and strong. The knock-offs are cast, and without re-engineering the wheel, it is too thin in places, and they have been known to have catastrophic failures on track. Usually with R-compund tires that generate higher forces. Any TUV approved wheel is fine for track duty. |

So to Clarify, if I have Porsche wheels that are stamped 'Made in Italy', but have the Porsche Part # on them, they are original? Or could aftermarket wheels have the part# stamped on them too??
