I've checked all fuses, and obvious relays, and purchased/installed a new wiper, high beam, directional stalk. All to no avail. Any suggestions?

Have you considered giving up? (sorry, couldn't resist!)

Do the low beam work? Maybe the bulbs are no good. I have a solution for you. Check out this link: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61479

Stray15. Yes, the low beams work. I saw that thread the other night, it sounds interesting. I'd like to solve the current problem first.

Robert, first of all, there are no relays for the headlights so you can cross that off the list. There are 4 fuses for the headlights so check the two for high beam. You replaced the turn signal/high beam switch so that is probably good.
Well that leaves you down to wiring, connectors or the bulbs. Both high beams are out right? Unlikely, but possible both bulbs have burned out or the high beam wire going to both buckets has broken from flex, especially if you don't use high beam enough to notice. Check the bulbs. Since your low beams work that would leave you with something in the fuse/relay board or somewhere between that and headlights. Get out the volt meter and start checking way points starting with the fuse socket. At least then you will know which side to go to: upstream towards the switch or down stream to lights. |

Iceshark. Thanks for the reply. It's supposed to be in the low sixties here; I'll start that today and post my findings on monday.

I have a problem with one of my highbeams as well. Sometimes it just stops working.
I finally nailed the problem down to the fuse. The fuse doesn't blow, but it seems that the fuse holder loses connection. The solution was to double up the metal fuse prong width and jam it in the fuse holder. I just ripped apart another fuse and used the prongs from it. Haven't had any problems since. You can try to see if this is the problem by removing the fuse for the highbeam, and inserting a piece of wire as a jumper between the two terminals in the fuseblock. Kaos 1985/2 944 |

Robert... Mine failed also. I checked the function of the lines to the lights from the fuse box.. checked out. I checked the turn stock and high beam switch. Worked fine. So then I jumped the section from the switch to the fuse board. Bingo! There was a short between this section. So I have a temporary line spliced in at the moment until I can solder the line into the back of the fuse/relay panel.
That is what I suggest you check. Put power on line from fuse to lights... they should light. Then jumper the section bewteen the switch and fuse box. If it lights again... you found the issue. Oh also check the fuse connection as noted by another lister. Eric
