Out with the old...and in with the NEW!

Fed up with the oil leaks and fouling plug on #2. Temporary delay on the Club Sport, so move forward on the 941. New motor is built, so let's get this oily leaking lump outta the way.

Just for giggles, here's a photo from a few weeks ago of the long block prior to bolting on the manifolds and ancillaries...

More pix to follow...

...and IN WITH THE NEW!

Installing the flywheel // S1 K26 Turbo

Dropping in the new motor.

After dropping it in, I was able to get the entire exhaust system assembled and installed (what an intricate puzzle that is!). New clutch hydraulics. Bolted the front suspension back up.

All that's left:
- starter
- clutch slave and line
- radiator and front of cooling system
- CIS
- A/C

Add oil. Add coolant. Prime fuel system. Prime oil system. Fire it up. Hopefully by Saturday...

Well, got her fired up on Saturday...but encountered a couple of minor issues with the turbo...the first issue was I discovered that the turbo rebuilder used the wrong seals in the integral bypass valve (lesson learned: don't trust any one else's work!!!). Also, I somehow managed to damage the round metal crush seal that goes between the down pipe and the turbine housing, such that the turbo was not spooling. D'oh. Spent the afternoon yesterday getting those two issues sorted out, and now she runs great. Starting to work on break-in.
