Tool needed - strut insert cap - Southbury, CT
Folks - anyone in the Southbury, CT area have a Porsche 9186 tool (or similar) for removing front strut insert caps that you're willing to lend for the weekend? I've got the springs off but am stalled at the caps. I'm in Woodbury, PM me if you can help. Thanks!

A vice, a drift, and a BFH is the best way.

a vice and a big pipe wrench ( 3 footer ) that way you don't have to beat on the thing with a hammer and drift and mess up the cap . some times the new cap that comes in the kit is wrong and you have to use the old one also is much easier to install the new so you know its tight . when you install the new insert put some motor oil down the strut tube it stopps the insert sticking in the strut tube .

Thanks for the suggestions. I went the pipe wrench and vice route with the first one and it did the trick. Should have it rebuilt shortly (as long as I can get the insert out!).

3 ft pipe wrench.... don't need a vise if still mounted in a car.
