Started another N/A clutch today
Pretty excited, took 4 hours to reach the end of the block. I got hung up on the speed and reference sensors not coming out, only one stripped bolt, and the the clutch rod that wouldn't come out. hopefully only 4 hours to reassembly everything. The failure was the rubber from the disc was completely sheared and would spin the disc. Symptoms were:
able to put in gear while engine was running would roll while in gear N/A's are still easier then turbo's. Just waiting till turbo becomes easier...

Nice work! It's always faster once you've done it once. I recently did the clutch on an N/A and had to replace a reference sensor..wish I would have know that assy would come off with the clutch housing!

While you've got it apart, would it be possible for you to take a measurement for me? It doesn't need to be super accurate, within 1/16 of an inch or two mm would be great.
I'm looking for the distance from the friction surface of the flywheel to the machined surface the torque tube mates to. Alternately, the distance from the flywheel friction surface to some part of the release bearing guide tube or clutch fork cross bar would do just as well. |

Ehhh, I had it back together quick. Anyways I'm wondering if any of you guys would instal a nos rubber centered disk? The owner demanded to instal one he had laying around. Lol damn that guy was cheap. Anyways if your in phx and see a red 87 944 for sale with repro wheels, don't buy it.
