Is there one? Am I too dumb to find it?

Well there is a 928 registry, and is for a population of 61,000 cars (world wide production). So it wouldn't be that much harder to set up a registry for the 944 series of cars (aprox 160,000 if you include all 944 models).
But to the original question, I don't think there is a registry, I seem to remember threads about setting one up over on rennlist years ago, but I don't think it ever got off the ground. |

There isnt one and starting one up on your own would be difficult. However, all the major 944 vendors/parts suppliers could probably get one started if they emailed everyone who bought 944 parts in their database and directed them to a 944 registery. If they offered a discount on parts for everyone who registered that might help. Best host for the registry would probably be PCA as most vendors already give discounts to PCA members.

There is a registery for the 1988 944 Turbo S Silver Rose cars. I think there is one somewhere for the 968s as well. I have most of the info to do one on the 1986 944 turbo Pearl painted cars but haven't published it.

Theres a 924 registry on Porsche 924 Garage & Register home and I don't think its changed in 10 yrs! its so outdated, i doubt many of those cars are owned by the same people or maybe even still on the road.
in a way, theres threads on both pelican and rennlist and various other forums that do the same kind of thing when enthusiasts post pics of their cars. I maintain my garage here on pelican for my car which I found really handy. instead of continuously reguritating the same info I have started to post the link to my garage. you can search the garage function but it's flawed by how people have described their year and model Pelican Parts Technical BBS - Search Garages There's also this approach, though i'm not sure how do-able it is around the world. Again it's flawed by the model description used to register it into the system: Quote:

After seeing that, I decided to check if the 3 that I have owned were ever listed under MY name in that registry. But in trying to narrow things down, I went for an alphabetical search, since my last name starts with an A. The problem on that site is that, alphabetically speaking, they use the first names, in which mine won't come up until nearer to the end. And you can only page forward 1 page at a time, with each page consisting of only like 3 entries (maybe it's 4).
There's no way I could ever have THAT kind of patience. |
