Well, I ordered the axles from carquest, 2 for a total of $160, which when added to the $50 I have to pay to ship the new axles back to paragon, comes to $210, which is almost half price of the new axles ....
I also found the tool at NAPA, about 3 inches long, and takes an 8mm socket to drive it with a 1/4" wrench ... If anyone is interested, I can post the tool part number for reference. It was 6 bux, and it was called an 8mm Serrated bit, not a 'star' bit, in the NAPA manual. For the past few days, there has been no real clicking sound coming from the axles, but rather a low friction-like sound that repeats every time the wheel turns. The axle that was clicking has a leaky CV boot, as I can see the grease coming out where the circlip is missing. Thank you all for the tips, and I'll keep you posted on the progress. E

Just talked to Carquest, and they no longer sell the 944 CV axle assemblies. Apparently they said they had to warranty too many of them and they were not a profitable item for them.
I just checked with Pep Boys, however, and they do sell them and they are $79 per complete assembly plus a refundable core charge. Just wanted to update everybody on this! Tifosiman
