Engine oil dipstick 1986
Hey guys quick question. What does the oil dipstick look like on a 1986 n/a? Does the top have a yellow loop that says engine oil, or is it just a thin metal hook? Thanks!!

It should be the dipstick with the yellow top you referenced. I have an '88 and that's the one I have, should be the same on a '86.

My 84 had an 87 engine (43H000911) and it had a wire hook, although it could have been from the 84 engine it replaced.

My buddys 87 924s has the yellow loop, and my 86 had the wire hook/loop looking one. I'm just making sure I have the correct dipstick. I wonder if they changed it in 1987+ cars?

Looks like that was one of many changes that came out with the '87 series cars.

My original motor had a yellow loop, but the 84 motor I rebuilt came with the wire hook. I swapped the yellow one in. They are both the same length.

PET states that the transition occurred at M 45H 01414. Earlier engines used the 951 107 021 01, later ones used 944 107 025 01.
It doesn't state that it occurred in '87, so must be slightly different.

Thought I had it figured out and you came in stirring the pot. Yours may have been replaced because mine is a late 1986, (11/86), and has the wire hook.
