'84 944 Turbo Parts

Hey guys hope everyone is having a great new years. I work at a shop in New Jersey and one of our shop cars is an '86 944 Turbo.

It has been sitting around and we would like to get the ball rolling and put her back together! I'm in need of some parts for this car but my boss said there are some differences between the Turbo vs NA models....ie the fenders are wider?

I need a front left fender, headlight assembly, front bumper cover, and side marker.

Are the Turbo vs NA front fenders different?

I can't imagine the headlight assemblies are different for the 2 models....but I have not idea. Am I wrong?

Anyone know of a good place to source these parts? I saw some parts on eBay but they don't give much detail and I'm afraid I will get stuck with a part for the wrong car.

I am completely new to the Porsche scene. I'm mainly involved in the BMW scene...current car is a '06 E90 330xi. I've also been restoring a '94 E36 M3 for the shop as well. That thing is pleasure to drive/work on!

Thanks in advance for you help!

the front fenders are different. the headlight assemblies are the same, if i am mistaken someone will correct me.

the fenders aren't wider, they are different to accommodate the different style bumpers.

Hi and welcome.

"I need a front left fender, headlight assembly, front bumper cover, and side marker."

The only item that is the same na-turbo from your list is the side marker, for all the other parts you need to specify 944 Turbo.

Make sure you service that car before you drive it as it's been sitting around. I'm sure you will, but do the belts, rollers and water pump as part of that service. GL

Non of the items on eBay specified whether they were for the Turbo or NA.

For BMW, there is a site called realoem.com It has blow outs of the parts in the car, including part #s. It's very useful.

Anything similar for Porsches?

I will make sure we look the engine bay and suspension/chassis over before taking it out for a test drive. Most likely, we will do all the fluid flushes and replace most of the gaskets/hoses.

This forums vendor, the homepage: Pelican Parts.com - Parts, Accessories and Technical Information for all models of Porsche. top left.

No quite as good as BMW realoem but the Porsche PET is our bible for parts.

For really good advise on used parts and quite a large inventory I found Ian at 944online[dot]com to be very helpful. No affiliation, just had good experiences with them. There is also dcauto[DOT]com. Give them both a call.

You can also post a wanted ad in the for sale section here I'm sure there's a few guys looking to get rid of Turbo/S2 fenders and you can pick them up for cheap.

Oh and btw S2's have the same front end as turbos so those fenders will work too.

Wow you guys are almost as active as E90post. Some of the forums I've been on previously were pretty much dead.

Posting in the for sale section is a great idea! I will do that.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Ohh and I'm guessing S2 is the chassis code name? Like E90 is the chassis name for my BMW.

no. it is a model differentiation, like the difference between a 325is and a 325ci.

The S2 is basically a 944 turbo with a 3.0 L 16V 208 HP motor. It has the same upgrade body work & suspension of the turbo.
