Just a reality check needed, I am doing a complete rebuild on my 87 S motor, and am planning on replacing all the studs, top and bottom end. Am I crazy? Thanks Jeff |

If in good shape the head and lower end studs should be good to re-use. Replace the nuts and washers always during your rebuild.
All of the studs can be checked by visually looking at them for galls, gouges, and clean threads. Check the threads by spinning a Die the full length of the threads - If the die spins all the way easily then the threads are good to go. Next on a very flat surface roll each stud and look closely for bends - if the studs roll on a flat surface without any wobbling or distortions they're good to go this way. Have pfun...
