Low temp thermostat and fan switch affect emmisions?
 

So i did pass smog last year after the tech ran it a lil longer to warm up the engine and cat i guess? And he also asked if my timing was adjustable.


I still have a low temp stat 71c stamped on the bottom never
Fan witch temp im not sure about but it never really gets past first line on guage

That being said i was thinking about going back to the stock thermostat and fan swtich to get the car to regular running temperature so it would run leaner as im sure its running richer due to the fact its running cooler and decreasing the efficiency of the car to burn gas right?...


And i dont really feel like doing the thermostat bc its a PITA. so maybe just the stock cooling fan switch?

BTW: i did use the later cam on my early car when i smoged it.. i have switched back to stock cam since then tho , so that may have been why the smog tech asked about timing. And i have alos made sure timing on current belt is perfect.

thermostats can affect emissions. that is why most manufacturers now put one in that is above 190. it reduces emissions by maintaining a slightly higher combustion temperature

I have both the low temp fan switch and thermostat, (as you know it gets africa hot here) and have never had a problem passing smog.
My tags are also due in the winter time, so it's usually cold outside when i get it smogged.
