What is it?
Anyone know what this blue part is or what it does? The end that broke off was attached to the 4-way vacuum connector on the intake manifold that is directly behind the part in the picture. I can't seem to find a part number and it's not in any of the parts diagrams I have looked at. The only script on the part is "VDO Motor/Engine".

What is it "checking" the vacuum on? It's not going to the brake booster.....the vacuum line goes somewhere on the passenger side of the car.

a check valve prevents flow in the wrong direction. there are a couple of these in the system on the 968. no idea how many on the 951.

Upon further investigation, it appears that it is checking the vacuum that supplies the HVAC control system so that it sees full vacuum at all times. Still can't figure out why it does not show up on any 944/951 vacuum routing diagrams or part number listings. Thanks TechoDuck for the part number.

It actually does show up in the HVAC PET drawing, but it's hard to find. The location for it usually is on the brake booster "T" connection up on the firewall. Some people have replaced that booster line with the "upgraded" line that has no break in it for the T fitting. I imagine that the PO did that and just used the intake manifold fitting instead. No harm, no foul.
