Turbo Brake Upgrade
I'm planning on upgrading to some 951 Brakes soon, but I ran across a small problem. I have a 88 N/A and I purchased a set of 86 951 calipers. I've read some conflicting things about whether these calipers will fit on 87- turbo/s2/968 spindles and was hoping to hear from somebody who knows if there are any fit problems with these calipers on late spindles. Thanks.

The rears will fit -- you will need adapter plates, or swap for turbo spindles for the front.
Just did this on a '88 924S

All of the 951 (not including the Turbo S) calipers are interchangeable.

Calipers the same for the turbo the only difference in the 951 brakes is the 86 rotors are different from the other years. You will need the 951 caliper spacers in the rear, turbo brake hardlines in the rear and turbo flexible lines at the front. Oh and the turbo bias valve on the master cylinder, I think that's everything??

The spindles for the 86' model are different than the 87-88 non s spindles. The 86' calipers use slightly smaller caliper pistons as well IIRC.
Also, yes, for the rears you will need a spacers, maybe like a 5mm washer. I believe the brake bias valve is the same between the NA and turbo. The 16v has the different bias valve. It's perfect for my setup because I have the 993TT calipers/rotors up front with 968's in the rear.

The 8v n/a uses no bias valve. The 944S was the only car that had the single piston calipers that came with a bias valve; the 5/33 valve. The 951/S2/968 all had the 5/18 valve (which gives less rear brake than the 5/33).
The spacer in the rear is basically a 1/2" washer inbetween the caliper and hub mounting point. No need to buy or find the Porsche ones.

I have 86 Turbo brakes on my 931 without bias valve. Brakes seem fairly well balanced to me.
