head bolts

I'm taking off the head, and i absolutely can't see any more bolts, but it won't move!! what gives? I took off the 10 big ones (5 under valve cover and 5 under intake), and the exhaust nuts.

I just love those valve cover allenheads, especially the stripped ones that are way back in the corner.

Thanks,

Tim

Those allen heads are wonderfull.................just make sure when you put them back on you torque them properly and put anti-seize compound on them.

For the stuck head.............Just try and pry the head off.............the gasket is probably cooked on.......it will come off...

It was just cooked on really good...

I was luck enough to drop one of the head nuts down the water jacket when I was taking it off. It looks like my extraction tool is going to be a small magnet tied to a string, I actually have another magnet thats made for this sort of situation, but its too big.

Thanks for the advice on the anti-seize stuff, I noticed that the treads on most of the bolts weren't the problem, it was mostly the heads. One the stripped allenheads wouldn't come out w/ the easy-out, so I drilled the center of head out and knocked it off w/ a chisel. Amazing enough, after the bolt head was off it wasn't even finger tight.

Somebody should write a book on taking out stripped bolts, I think they could make alot money.

Tim
