Starting issues 85.5 944
Posting for a friend:
When my 944 came out of winter storage in May it did not want to start. A local garage fiddled with the Flywheel Reference Mark Sensor and the Flywheel Speed Mark Sensor connections in order to get the car to start. We drove it home with no problem but a few days later my wife drove it and the engine quit and would not start until she let it sit for 15 minutes. Since we got it back home it has gone nowhere. I found some liquid in the connectors for both sensors and cleaned that out. When I last checked this past Monday both connectors were dry and the car started four times. So probably this weekend I will take it for a test drive. I'm not sure whether simply replacing the sensors will solve the problem, or, whether there may be a related problem at the ECU/SME unit which uses the signals from these sensors. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Water in the plug? That could cause some problems I am sure. Drive the car with the plugs dry and see what happens.
Also check the DME/Fuel Pump relay. (Other options, Fuel Pressure, vacuum lines, DME coolant temp sensor?, wires that a rat chewed threw, speed and reference sensors, coil, DME needing to be repaired, and probably more things) There could be several think causing this problem. I am battling a very similar problem with my car.
