recover 1983 944 dash
I have seen the posts of recovering later models but has anyone recovered an 83 dash? Mine has the cheap plastic cover now which needs replacing so I was wondering about maybe doing it rite.

I just recently did mine but it was out of an 89, I can't see why you couldn't try it on the earlier dash. The fabric shop suggested a vinyl material made for outdoor patio furniture and it was really workable.
I think the key to being successful with this is to be really patient, don't try to do too much at one time. I also suggest you use a quality adhesive and follow the instructions as closely as possible. Good luck Bruce |

I want to try smearing bondo all over my dash and sand it smooth, and coat the dash in some sort of grainy paint along the lines of truck bed liner. Anything will look better than it does now. Looks like rosie odonell's stratch marks on her love handles!

the 83 dash has more curves and is bigger than the newer 944 from what I can see. I was hopping maybe I could fine a pre formed vinyl cover.

It looks like its a lot harder that a late dash to recover.
Classic9 leather cover. (scroll to bottom) Ideola's Garage: Appearance Packages for Transaxle Porsches I am going to try to fix up an old one and see how it comes out. I will probably flock it though and not try to recover. I think the flocking will give me the best bang for the buck. (which is what I'm all about)
