Price check for Sway Bars

How much would be a good price for a pair of used 944 turbo front and rear sway bars? $200? Or less? SmileWavy Also, since my 944 didn't come with rear sway bars factory, how difficult would it be to add the rear?

Adding a bar to the rear of a 944 is a piece of cake. Just make sure you get the bushings, drop links and brackets.

$200 for everything would be an okay price. $150 would be a good price. $100 would be a good price if you only get the bars and nothing else.

I have new bushings for the front sway bar I never put on my old 944. I don't have rear bushings, or drop links or brackets. Not sure exactly how that goes together. One of the guys at Parts Heaven told me you usually need to replace the inner sway bar bushings, those are the ones that go bad. Looking at both my 83 and my 86 that seems to hold true, on both cars the inner ones were heavily cracked and falling apart while the outer were looking old but more or less okay condition.

I will have 968 factory bars available in 2 weeks, once i have M030 bars installed.

Bushings should still be fine, but i will inspect after being removed. Might be best to have fresh bushings.

If interested let me know.

Hopefully your 86 has the same sized sway bar as the 83 did. Otherwise that would render the inner bushings useless.

968 vs 951 sway bar? And good point. I had just assumed they were the same.

flash968 08-24-2012 11:18 AM

i still have a set of 968 sway bars, complete with bushings in excellent shape, that all came off a car with 22k on it

the link has a bad number on it, and the front bar is 26.8, but the link works

You never sold the ones in that post? I'm interested.

Gawernator 08-24-2012 11:55 AM

What do you mean by a "bad number"? Would you have all the hardware I'd need to mount on my late 944?

flash968 08-24-2012 01:05 PM

no, i never sold them

the link says 25.5, but it's really a 26.8.

if you have bars front and rear now, then you should need no new hardware

Gawernator 08-24-2012 01:47 PM

I have front. No rear. Just a torsion bar.

flash968 08-24-2012 01:56 PM

then you will need the rear brackets and drop links

Gawernator 08-24-2012 01:58 PM

Would ones from an S2 work?

flash968 08-24-2012 03:26 PM

from what everybody says, yes. it seems the bars and hardware all interchange across the later cars

J1NX3D 08-24-2012 05:01 PM

they do. my '86 only had a 20mm front bar.

i got a 26.8 from an S2, a 18mm rear from a turbo, drop links and brackets from DC auto and paragon.
