944 mechanic in Connecticut (Hartford)?

A friend at work is in need of a mechanic familiar with 944's in the Granby or Hartford area. His car won't pass emissions.
thanks,
Chris
EDIT: I originally wrote Bridgeport, it should have been Hartford.

Granby or Bridgeport? Aren't these two towns far away.
In any case, I can recommend Michael Haines, Ltd in North Stonington, but that's almost to Rhode Island.
He does very thurough work and only works on Porsche, Audi, and VW. If your friend wants to ignore any minor problems, I wouldn't go to Michael Haines. He has done beautiful work on my 83, but can't seem to resist fixing everything in sight!
From Bridgeport it would be a little more than an hour down 395 to 95. I think.
His labor is $45 an hour.
Overall: A+

I live about 15 minutes outside of Hartford, in Avon. There is a great shop up in Canton called "Automobile Associates of Canton" I don't have their number handy, but they advertise on the inside back cover of the local PCA magazine, "Challenge"
they are about 20 min. from hartford, right on Rt 44 (albany turnpike)

They are a Porsche specialty shop, very clean, well laid out, they do quality work, and they didn't charge a fortune when i had work done there. The most recent thing i had done was the 1800 mile timing/balance belt re-tension and a 4-wheel alignment. Unless it has gone up in the last few months, they charged me $60 / hr. In this area that seems to be about the minumum for any mechanic who is any good, and these guys work on Porsche almost exclusively, so i have no worries about leaving my car with them.

other mechanics i have used are Nino's Foreign Car service in Avon, and ******** Schmidt in torrington. this second guy is a little bit crazy, but he seems like he knows what he is talking about. he only charges $45 an hour, but he takes more hours, and don't expect your car back too quickly.

I haven't had a substantial amount of work done by anyone, because i prefer to do it myself. I only bring my car to people when i don't have special tools or equipment necessary.

Good luck
Mike
