So...
![]() This must be some part of the door stop mechanism. I noticed on the driver side the metal piece with the two triple square bolts moves with the door opening. So, I attempted to tighten the bottom bolt, and the head just spins either direction without moving. For a day it did tighten and work but the next it was loose again. Can anything be done? ![]() Does everything look normal?

I had this same problem a few years back. There is a welded nut inside the foot well compartment that the triple square threads into. That weld has broken loose and the nut just spins while you try to tighten the triple square bolt. The quickest and easiest way that I solved the problem was to cut the head off of the triple square with a drimmel tool and cutting wheel, leaving the nut and remaining part of the triple square bolt to fall into the foot well compartment. I thought it might rattle around and make noise but it didn't. I then installed a riv-nut in the remaining whole in the door jamb to hold a new fastener. You can't tell the difference from the factory except it's not a triplesquare fastener. It worked great and holds well.
