Headlight Harness Upgrade (Another)

Hello:

I upgraded to H4's last year on the 84 944, but did not upgrade the harness with relays. Over the last month I sourced different parts and tested out the routing and relay placement and I am happy with the results.

This thread was very helpful:

I have ended up with a plug and play harness, separate fusable links and optimum placement for a clean install. Daniel Stern's guidelines have been taken into account too..

Would anyone be interested in a harness? Pricing will be in the $85 area plus shipping. This will be a limited production, 10 units max.

Just wanted to gauge the interest. Lastly, if anyone needs lenses, I highly recommend these units:

Wow, those are WAY cheaper than the ones from Rennbay. Those are legit E-code lenses?

Thanks Rpaillet, I will order up the parts. Will be in contact via PM on the details.

In addition, the initial production will be supplied with Hella relays, as that is the weak point of any harness.

4 units have been produced and shipped, I still have supplies for some more if anyone is interested. I will be able to ship after Thanksgiving as I am traveling this week,

I got one and installed it over Thanksgiving. Giving it a road test took a little more time.

I got the H4 lenses from Bus Depot, as mentioned up top. The lenses look to be seconds but installed and worked fine. Lots more light on the road :-)

The biggest problem I had was getting to the right rail ground. Thats not a problem with the harness, it is just the access is tight. I ended up pulling the relay and connector to the headlight motor to get a ratchet in there.

There is plenty of length in the harness so it was easy to clear the headlight mechanisms.

Good Job.

Thanks for the report Nigel, glad it worked out.

Anyone that is in need of a harness please drop me a PM.

Got the harness installed and working. Already had the H4's. I can tell the difference in brightness and am really happy with the new wiring. Took awhile to install but I wanted to hide the wiring and get everything clamped down. Thanks for the upgrade.

Thanks Rpaillet, you where my first sale and Nigel was officially the second.

Glad it worked out for you, was able to tweak it a bit after the Beta.
