Talking RE: Happy anniversary to my car!

Well, a year ago, on June 18, 2001, I officially became a proud owner of my 1989 944S2! Since then, "The Flash" (as my Guards red car is affectionately known as) and I have been through the following:

Driving:
5 autocrosses (1 4th place finish, 1 third place, 3 second place finishes)
2 DE events at Lime Rock Park, CT (1 in Green run group, 1 in Yellow)
1 DE event at Pocono Raceway, PA (Yellow run group)
1 Car control clinic (I loved that skidpad!)
Countless fun hours on the windy back roads of NJ/NY

Upgrades:
Installed new radio/CD unit last August (Blau Nevada)
Replaced broken rear licence plate holder
Installed fire extinguisher mount last winter
Installed harness bar and 6 point harnesses last winter
Replaced worn shifter boot
Replaced slightly cracked rear taillight lens

Maintenance:
In January, "The Flash" went in for a major overhaul:
All belts, seals
Coolant flush
Cam chain & chain guide.tensioner
Upgraded to intermediate track pads
New brake fluid: the blue stuff
Upgraded to bigger tires (225/50 16's front, 245/45 16's rear)

It has been a busy year, and I look forward to many, many more years with "The Flash!"

So, here's a toast to my car: Thanks for the fun, sorry about the abuse, hope you had as much fun as I did!

-Zoltan.

Wierd!

Hey!
Today, 6-21-2002, is three years for my '84 944. Its so wierd to think that three years ago it was ready to be parted out.

Got it for $1000 (Great deal for what was actually wrong with it).
Things I have done in three years of ownership:

Repaint and bodywork - LM1V (Light Bronze metallic origional color)
Clutch Job (Complete clutch kit pelican)
Rebuilt brake calipers
Changed brakes
Shocks/Struts
Redid Oilpan gasket and other smaller oil seals (Oil filter area)
Replaced Ignition system (Coil, wires, etc)
Refinished the cookie cutter rims
New Tires
Fixed wiper motors (F/R)
Replaced Timing belt/water pump, Front seals, etc.
Replaced speedo sending cable
Thermostat and thermo switch upgrade
Installed Bursch exhaust

Only things left:
Carpet kit ($400)
Seats ($700)
Transmission ($1300) Buying rebuilt (cheating!)

Total so far (including purchase price): $5,102.12

Gotta love doing it yourself! Save a ton! (Esp. bodywork).
