sad sight.

Watching the news tonight relating to the floods we're getting over here at the moment, stuck in the road with 6 inches of roof showing above the water line, was a 911, you could just about see the wipers still running as they reached the top of the windscreen. Occupants were rescued. Wonder if that would be the end of the car.

Those are good parts cars, but good for little else, especially when the car entered the water while running. Once the motor has water in it when it's running, it's really difficult and expensive to flush out and rebuild.....let alone the interior and electrical system.

Easy to rebuild, a shop I used to work at purchased 7 engines and transmissions from Katrina flooded Porsche's, we did complete overhauls and sold them, just somewhat expensive. Not a one of the engines had hyrdolock damage.

911's will pretty much stall out before water gets ingested into a running engine, the distributor (and coil packs 1999 and later models) will get wet before water enters the intake (if they don't stall first from excessive back pressure).

Let's see...Coming up on an over pass with water under it with a water measuring stick showing 4 feet of water on the road and I drive my car into it...Looks and sounds like an insurance scam. 944 on it's last mechanical leg, owner can't or won't pay to get it fixed, hey, let's see if this thing can swim!!! What a dumb A**.
