Radiator flush/cleaning
in the process of a compete rebuild on a 86 951 that had been sitting for years. In the expansion tank and radiator lines there is a lot of orange sludge. I am replacing all the lines and cleaning out the tank. What about the radiator. I am sure the inside is nasty. Before the tear down, the belts were change and it was driven with no heating issues. I hate to think about circulating that sludge through a brand new engine. Is it possible, and if so how, to really flush and clean the old radiator or just buy a new one. I don’t want to sound cheap but don’t want to throw money at it if I don’t have too.

I would do all the cleaning used to remove the oil sludge from a bad oil cooler seal.
cleaning oil from radiator - Rennlist Discussion Forums When I flush my cooling system, I use 1/2 bottle of Prestone flush--any more and it causes more leaks in the radiator between the rubber and metal gasket on the side. GL J_AZ

If one doesn't have a place to flush, would it be a safe bet to take it to jiffy lube and have them hook up their flush tee apparatus and put flush chemicals in the system?

Just make sure that they use Dex____. You know, the stuff for aluminum blocks.
