Coupling rear muffler to front muffler
I am at the stage where I still have the front of the car jacked way high as I installed another engine and I want to couple up the two halves of the exhaust system. Can I use the old cast iron ring(the mufflers are still the original factory supplied ones);. Should I use exhaust sealing paste which normally cures with heat? This exhaust isn't going to get hot in weeks cos I still have to do all the plumbing vacuum and electrical connections once the car is lowered to the ground enabling me to reach in under the hood.

Sealing paste wouldn't hurt, but if the ring is not in great shape, it would be best to replace it. It is kind of a pain to get everything to fit up nice and straight. Clean up the sealing surfaces with a file and/or sandpaper and torque the bolts nice and evenly.
