Early 944 alarm system troubleshooting
I removed the key cylinder for the alarm and moved the pins so it works with the key that unlocks my doors for the car. The alarm system does not appear to be bypassed and it should work but it doesn't. I wanted to start using the alarm since my car was broken into recently where I live.
A couple years ago I did set off the alarm by disconnecting one of the wires to the lock(they were spliced down by the door at some point). I didn't have a key so the alarm was not active at the time but still went off. Does disconnecting one of the wires trigger the alarm regardless if it is active or not? What exactly triggers the alarm to go off? Is it one of the wires connected to the door switches that turn on the dome light? My dome light doesn't come on when I open either door. I cleaned the switches and tested the circuits with a volt meter and they are not grounding from either door. |
I got the alarm to work by filing the door switch contacts. My dome light and instrument chime work properly now also.
I know there are switches for the hood and hatch, but where are they located? |
