hard brake line above drive shaft replacement
87 944 NA
there's a hard brake line that runs over the drive shaft. it is held in a clip directly over the tube. this particular brake line connects the right-side brake line junction to the left-side rear caliper via a rubber hose. if anyone has replaced this, I'd appreciate any comments about non-obvious work that results from replacing it, if it is more difficult to replace with the tranny/gas tank in (I currently have them out and this is a "while I am at it" job I am evaluating).

Frankly my dear....

The only things that might be a problem are the rear torsion tube assembly (as there is not a lot of room behind or above it) and the fuel hard lines. When I replaced this brake line I had both the torsion tube and the fuel lines off. However, I still had the tranny attached to the torque tube and the gas tank in - they are not a problem. Of course there is nothing that says you have to follow exactly the same route as Porsche did if you are replacing the line with a custom built one....
