can volkswagen parts be used in the 944
Just a theory that i have in my head since volkswagens and porsche do have a little in common.

Not the starter, it turns backwards compared to the VW one that will bolt in. The interior lights are also used on VWs. Sun visor clips. Early 944 front suspension parts, some rear suspension stuff.
For some parts you can look up the Bosch part number and save money rather than using the Porsche part number. FPR, that sort of thing. The ISV can be substituted with a common equivalent.S/R sensors can be substituted with BMW. Knock sensors maybe can be substituted, I have not looked. The 968 will run with an Audi or Volvo MAF, but not flow as well. This is nice as the 968 MAF is rare and expensive, and it's probably only the housing that is different while the sensor itself is a common part with an uncommon part number. Sadly you can't easily bolt in a VR6 or 1.8T or grab the trans from an Audi 5000.
