Porsche Crest Another 944S build!

Hey Everyone,

So the time has come, the decision has been made, the 944S is getting a needed overhaul. Pretty much everything is going to get done over the period of a year. Starting with a top end rebuild, suspension, brakes, hopefully done in time for summer. Next winter it'll be the rod bearings, clutch, and possibly a transmission swap/rebuild (I've got a bent shift fork in there somewhere). My priorities are in this order:

Reliability/Longevity
Fun!
Maybe some time on the track.

On the top end I've got a re manufactured cylinder head with all new parts that has been surfaced. I'm also planning on putting in the webcamshafts grind # 278/264. Timing belts, chain, and rollers will get done at this time as well. MSDS headers, and if I can find one an S2 Intake manifold are on the list as well. Injectors will also get either a service or replaced. Finally a performance chip. I have a couple questions in regards to some of this.

Will a performance cam make a difference on stock valves??
Is there any point to doing the MSDS headers & an S2 intake manifold without a port & polish? We're talking about moving air here so I'm just wondering where the restriction is really going to be. Which route would you experienced guys take? Am I wasting money with bolt ons if I'm not going to be increasing the ability the head has to breathe??

Thanks for any and all the help.

-Chris
