Fuses are inexpensive so you could just buy some and try it.
To test them (I assume you don't have a multimeter), put the fuse in series with a battery. That means touch the fuse on a flashlight battery terminal. Press a wire against the opposite end of the battery and touch both the fuse and other end of the wire to your tongue (so tip of your tongue completes circuit). You'll sense the voltage. If you sense nothing, fuse is blown. A flashlight battery has only 1.5 volts so there is nothing to be afraid of here. Actually, you can do it with a car battery because it is only 12v. It's the voltage that matters. It gets unpleasant above 30 volts. I had a Fun With Electricity Set when I was a kid. |
relax
just put em back together, if you have it wrong, they'll just work backwards, take em back apart and revers installment procedure.
If you blew the fuse, the little wire will be black and sort of....apart in the middle. don't sweat it and grab another fuse of equal color and stick it in. when you intend to drive it, replace the fuse, go to autozone and get a set of fuses. if you blow that fuse, and you want to go somewhere and absolutely have no alternative, take a piece of foil and wrap it around you fuse so that a connection is made between the two posts, and then go to autozone and buy a set of fuses. replace the foil wraped fuse IMMEDIATELY!* |
thanks everyone for replying, it was a blown fuse. i didnt know there was another row of fuses on the top. so thanks again for all the help. but my driver side switch to role down the passenger still dosedt work?

If yer just too dang frugal (read:skinflint) to buy another switch, take the old one apart and clean the contacts, which probably are all black and gunky. They're very simple switches. (I have a window switch as my hatchback release switch)
If that doesn't work, take it back apart, intall your switch backwards, and then when you put it back in the door, turn that switch upside down. If that doesn't work, buy a new switch. |
ok thanks todwic
