How about a set that lets you keep the door pockets,or integrates them?

You can do a component set with up to a 6.5" as long as it doesn't have a large plastic surround. If it does, it will overlap the edges of the pod. I'm going to use my 4.5" mids and 1" tweets in these and then make a separate kickpanel pod for my 6.5".

The pods really don't get in the way of your legs. You might feel the calf of your leg against it sometimes, but it's never in the way when shifting.

The new set I am working on includes a mod that covers the pocket completely. It will allow the user to mount crossover hardware or whatever to it. Mods will be posted on here in a while.

*New Update*

I have secured a stock 944 spoiler as well as a 85.5+ nose panel and an early year 931 turbo nose panel, all to be used as plugs for tooling purposes. I am currently working on making molds of the nose panels first and should have them completed in the next few weeks!

I will also post weights of the originals Vs the composite panels.

Thanks for all your input!!!

You need to make a header panel for the 944 turbo (951) to allow extra air for the intercooler. They are diffrent than the NA.
I have one I got from Byron (aka racerbvd) that he had made from a factory panel. It has an air intake to the intercooler.. Its great quality, but Carbon would save a ton of weight.. Here is a link with a pic of a fiberglass "POS"..

Thats some really nice craftmanship!!! We've got guys over here in aus doing similar things with Nissan Silvia's/200sx/(240sx for you guys) and Its great to see some light weight track components being made up for 944s.

I'd be up to buy either 968 or 944 rear wing... would you ship to aus???
Also I dont know if any of the aus track guys are using composite parts like these but I'll pass this thread onto them and you may have an export market... if you're interested.

Corsair944, thanks for the link. The pic of the underside was of great help. Quality of the workmanship will be far better as well as the materials used in the new ones.

OT: whats this plane you're working on? Prototype? Obviously nothing to large if its composite? I know a few companies were working on stuff but its to early to be put into larger carriers yet because of the international standards, but how are things going with that? composites becoming more accepted now?

Re to OT:

Aerobatic airplanes. The new Boeing 7E7 is composite as well as the new Airbus. We are actually doing the tailcone for the 7E7 for testing of the APU.

Currently doing body work on the nose panels to turn them into suitable plugs for making molds.

Yeah yeah... I see how ya are... you poke fun of "this guy called Robby" but you don't let me know about the good stuff... You were going to e-mail me... right...!

:-) :-) :-)

Hey... aren't there any smilies on this board?

Anyway, another guy mentioned this thread to me the other day, when talking about speaker-stuff. I'm still toying w/the stereo crap- epsecially after some ******* broke into my car... Not sure if you heard about that or not... Anyway, I RE-registered specifically to get to this thread. I had been here before, but, it was long ago- I'm going to start looking at this board more often though... Have you done anything interesting lately? I don't see any new additions in your sig... What about the electric hatch release- was that tough to do? Did you ever figure out how much weight that saved, if any...?

also, have you ever looked into finding a much lighter wheel to use as a spare? I've been trying to find out how much a lightweight drag skinny would weigh- just something to keep back there to save a little weight, but, still have the reassurance of a wheel- the stock aluminum spare weighs 29lbs- I'm thinking that for it's size, we could lose at least 10lbs...? What do you think? Any ideas on this? Maybe even just finding a REALLY lightweight wheel, like the Volk TE37 or something, in the smallest size that would clear the calipers & see what it would weigh... I know some of the TE37 wheels weigh less than 9lbs in the narrower 15" range...

An adjustable 968 Turbo RS wing that would fit a 944 hatch would be phenomanal. Every one on the market so far sells for $1,000+.

A splitter such as the one by AIR would be great as well.
