fuel injector/rail removal

how do you remove the fuel injectors. shoudl they all pop out at the same time by pulling the fuel rail. what if one of them comes out of the of the fuel rail and leeks gas all over the engine.

Yes the whole rail will pop off with the injectors. Just make sure the engine isn't hot when the fuel dumps everywhere, then you're okay.

Sometimes I loosen each one separately with a prying device before pulling on the rail.

Make sure the engine is cool. Remove the rail shroud (4 point snap connection). Place a rag or rags under and around the fuel rail pressure relief nut on the front right (as you face it) of the rail. Carefully remove the nut -- fuel will start draining into the rags -- but be very careful when you remove the nut because there is a steel check ball inside the nut that can be easily lost if your not aware of it. With a wire cutter, clip the 3 or 4 tie wraps that secure the injector wires to the rail. Using a small flat head screwdriver, individually pry the spring clips on each injector wire connector and remove each connection. Slip the vacuum lines off their respective connections at the pressure damper (front of rail) and pressure regulator (rear of rail) . Leave the pressure damper attached to the rail, but disconnect the damper mount from the intake manifold (2 bolts). Disconnect the strain relief for the clutch cable from the intake manifold (I believe its the clutch cable-- doing this from memory -- it crosses over the rail). Disconnect the fuel supply line from the rail. Disconnect the fuel return line (attached to the pressure regulator with a hose clamp). Remove the 3 bolts securing the rail to the engine (1 on top -- 2 on the bottom right). You should now be able to wiggle the rail pulling upwards and the rail with injectors should all come off together. The injectors are held to the rail by spring clips. Remove these and pull the injectors out. Reassembly is just the reverse of this process, but you’ll need some extra tie wraps to secure the wiring back to the rail. Use a very small amount of silicon grease or Vaseline to lubricate the injector O-rings for easy slippage into their respective mounts. All in all, fuel injector removal and reinstallation is a very simple procedure on this car. You can have them in and out in 30 to 45 minutes. BTW, this procedure is for a 944S, I assume there are some variations for the other models.

If you do spill gas on the engine, use compressed air to dry it out before stating the engine. DO NOT start the engine with pooled gasoline anywhere on it.

What if the silicon grease gets on your O2 sensor? Doesn't that make em whacky?
