On the Road Agian!
Well, $3,684.50 later I got my car back from the shop-new engine, seals, gaskets, belts, clutch, master cylinder, and they even washed it for me.
Two minutes from the shop, a ricer pulls up next to me at a red light. (If they are driving a Neon does that stll count as a ricer?)He looks over, checks out my ride, then guns the engine. I was concerned about his horsepower potential due to all the stickers. After shrugging off my concerns, I gunned the engine and waited for the green light. The light turned and the ricer pooped his clutch and laid a patch of rubber-unfortunately what he forgot to notice was the cop sitting in the Burger King parking lot. As I casually drove past the two of them conversing, i nodded my head and smiled to myself. It's nice to know when to roll and when to hold'em. |

Hehe, yeah I think you can call Neon's rice... same concept... besides "riced out" doesnt refer to Jap scrap anymore... just the body kits that add 300 HP and the stickers at 10HP each.
If he feels the need to spin his ::cough:: front right wheel ::cough:: at every light as do the rest of the kids, they must be insecure about "something."

[/B][/QUOTE]Kinda reminds me of the old joke about the old bull and the young bull looking over the herd of sweet sexy cattle. Everytime I see one of those riced out neons I can't resist the urge to yell "IT'S A NEON!!!" Of course to a lesser extent i get this urge when I see one of those gawd-awful PT Cruisers-at least I haven't seen any of those riced out. |

Neon is just a rebadged Mitsubishi powerplant. Which does not help, but I agree "rice" is a lifestyle and certinally not limited to import cars.
On another note I love the ricers. On more than one occasion now they have taken tickets for me. It seems like no matter how fast I am going if a cop sees a ricer he always goes after them first! They really seem to have it out for them here in CO.

I would venture to guess they go for them because of that day glow paint and those bright stickers that are visable from low earth orbit - -Plus all of those nice flat and/or boxy surfaces make outstanding radar reflectors

Last month on the way home from a track event with BMW I'm about 2 miles from my home - good and worn out. I'm putt, putting along at the 55-60 speedlimit. A ricer pulls up next to me and suddenly passes with a rush. It sounded like a chain saw - huge coffee can and muffler that probably cost more than a set of tires. I was looking for the name Homelite on the car. Up ahead a red light glowed. I move to left lane behind him because that is where I would turn left to go home. Ricer moves over to right lane. Tired and all, what the hell, I thought I'd bury him. There we sit at light. Not much traffic at that hour Sunday night. Light turns green. I move off smartly, engaging clutch then about 1/2 throttle keeping it out of the boost and no clutch abuse. Chain saw is cutting wood by now and I'm just a little ahead. Move to second gear and I floor it. Wheels begin rubbing on fenders as I lurch ahead. By the time I got to the speedlimit, I was several lengths ahead. I slowed and made a U-turn and went home. Ricer was not happy. He did not wave to me, imagine that.

the loud exhaust and gaudy paint jobs just beg for the lawman to pull them over and see how there day is going. All while I cruise by in my "classic" German automobile. I love to see them zip by on the Lost Angeles freeways... "Oh goodie, a highway patrolman magnet, I guess I can bump the cruise control up ten mph!"

well, first, i'm glad to hear you are back on the road again.. hope i'll be too soon enough.. :'( .. and i want to add this: doesn't matter what car forums i go to, there is always argument between ricers vs american muscle vs euro. I was a ricer too ..
hehe.. that is until i got my 944.. so now i get to eat rice, instead of riding one... yay... p.s. i thought porsches are for cornering, not draggin heheh..
