Walbro fuel pump

I replaced the factory fuel pump in my 1979 924 with a Walbro fuel pump. I think it runs 13 amps instead of the 7 or 8 on the old one. Will this make me blow 25 amp fuel pump fuses over and over?

Is that the maximum draw, or the average draw? Motors draw a lot more amps when starting up than when running steady, and I would guess that doubling the average draw of a motor in a circuit (and quite possibly doubling the draw at startup) could easily blow fuses.

Are you running the 190, or the 255, or? Low or high pressure?

It started blowing them soon after putting on jumper cables backwards during a jump start. The connection to the fusebox looks good but the relay connection look a little junky but it runs throught the fuse before the relay I think. I wonder if i melted a wire somewhere and its jumping across.

Dan:
You may want to verify a proper Ground on the fuel pump. Reverse current may short relay and blow fuses. Use a DMM meter to verify all your Gnds especially at the fuel pump.

Later.
