help, tach stops at 4k
1988 944 NA. Tachometer goes up to 4K and sticks there as engine continues to rev higher. Any help where to look first is appreciated.

Defective tach is not an uncommon failure on these cars. I'd check into ebay to see who's got a deal on one or a replacement instrument cluster for parts.
