VW door handles frames

Are there VW door handle frames that will work? I know the guts will be different, but it doesn't look too hard to swap the guts.
I bought some new VW handles for $10 on ebay and the guts part of the frame looks the same. Unfortunately the other end of the frame is not the same and won't hold the handle in the door.

Why would you want to though? The VW frame is plastic. The frame isn't the issue with the 944 handles. Its the guts that breaks on them. Seems like a step backwards to me.

That's the other thing... plastic. Seems like I am always going to P&P for my kid's Jetta and door handle always seem to be breaking....

Why? price......and the outside of the handle looks great!
The frame IS the issue. I now have two broken driver handles where the pivot eyelet's are broken in the same spot on the frame and you can't repair it. You can see the broken eyelet on the first pic. I don't like that it's plastic, but I've been looking for a used reasonably priced driver handle for awhile. New one's are retarded expensive, so for $10 I can live with it until I find a good late handle. None of this matters anyway since the VW handle I have doesn't fit.

Audi 5000 Door Handle
Part # 443-837-206C

Will take a small modification but it works.

The stem on the right looks the same as the one I have. It's pointing the wrong direction. It won't hold the handle to the door.

I glued a hard rubber spacer I fabricated under the tab that faces in the opposite direction from the stock piece so it would fit snugly against the sheet metal. There's another small modification required but I can't remember how I did it right now. In any case, it's doable, only down side is the handle is made of plastic and feels rather fragile, unlike the Porsche piece.

One can live with it considering the $15.00 some price.

Hmmm, spose I could try something like that. At least I would be able to open the darn door til I find another handle.
