clutch pipeline
Ok, it is common knowledge that the clutch pipeline (the hard tubing that connects the slave cylinder to the flex hose coming from the master cylinder) is hard to come by and over-priced. Versus going to all the hassle to source one, or pay dealer price, why could I not simply use a SS braided hose similar to what is used for brake line upgrades ? It connects to the other flex hose and the braided line could be routed any way I need without having to make all those bends in tubing .

Yes, you could. You'll have to secure it so it doesn't rub.

![]() Cohline (OE hose & tube supplier to Porsche) has tubing & fittings for just such a purpose, and its all metric so it will work as original. I can look into what the real stuff costs in short lengths if you like. Len at Autosportengineering dot com

I appreciate that BoxterGT. Being in a hurry to wrap this up, I actually went to a hydraulic place late today and they are going to make me one. They did not have the 6mm tubing so I had planned on using SAE and just metric fittings, but getting the flare correct might have been an issue. Might have been better to use plain rubber hydraulic hose vs the SS braided that is Teflon lined. If that gets kinked, then you have issues.
My advice if you ever need to remove this tube , like to replace slave cylinder, is to leave it on the slave and disconnect it once off the car. that way you can better see if it is starting to shear. Either that or apply a little heat to soften the gunk in in the threads so the collar does not bind. Funny thing is it came off fine 6 mths ago when I replaced my clutch. |

![]() Anyone have the PN or a photo of this pipeline? I am getting pretty good at making Hoses & now working on the 944 under floor pan hard fuel lines in a shorter version that can be shipped easily. Perhaps there is a lower cost alternative that can be done to factory specs. Len

Check hydralic shop prices
A hydraulic hose shop may be able to save/use the hard lines and fittings and just replace the rubber hose with either rubber brake hose like OE or perhaps braided stainless if you prefer that look.
Personally I like to be able to visually inspect flexible lines for chemical deterioration (oil or solvents go right through the metal braiding), age cracks, swelling, or other damage so I usually stay away from the braided cover which hides the actual fluid pressure line. I have read that the metal braiding is for abrasion resistance and does little to strengthen the fluid carrying rubber/Teflon/whatever flexible line encased by the braiding. FWIW: A new hose assembly from Pelican is only about $33 for my car.

+1 these are not expensive and they don't fail for a long time, they will last at least as long as a clutch. IMO the stock piece doesn't suffer any problems to warrant making one from scratch even if it was double the price.

![]() Any one have the PN? Or details on the braided SS replacement? Overall length would be nice. Found it .....42in. Perhaps the thread specs......looks like M12x1.0 Typically this will have Metric Bubble Flare fittings. Does this have a Copper seal ring against the housing? I should be able to make these in Metric so there would be no adapters needed. Plus it would be easier to install than the original. And...........less expensive. Len
