87 944 na front brake pads
need to replace front brake pads on 87 944 na. I am looking to do this myself...I've done many pads on my 98 suburban and find it pretty easy...never done the porsche though. Anyone with some fairly reasonable instructions or helpful hints?

if your just replacing the pads, not turning the rotors, the pads are simple... just pull out of the back of the calipers... very easy

thanks for the reply...good to hear. Is it much more complicated for a rotor swap?

I don't remember it being too much trouble--certainly within the realm of possibility for the home mechanic. Basically take off the caliper, remove the dust cap, loosen and remove the "clamping nut", and it should come off (the Haynes manual is somewhat generic but you can figure it out--mine's an '87 too). As long as you're going this far, might as well remove the wheel bearings, clean and inspect, regrease or replace. Dirty work, helps if you have an easy way to clean the bearings, but certainly do-able.
