Neat!
Plus I see that sport seats have held their value pretty well! :-)

That was alot of money back then. I graduated high school in 1983, and really wanted to get a new Mustang GT but it was out of my reach at about $13,000, I ended up getting a Dodge charger 2.2 for about $8500.

The problem as Jeff 968 displays, the price of the car escalated and the volume dropped proportional to the price. You could buy cars with better performance at half the price. This is a good marketing study of what happens of the cost vs value.

Dug out the window sticker for my 84 Scirroco, Wolfsburg Limited Edition that included cloth sports seats, rear spoiler, rear wiper, Montego Black metallic paint and some trim candy. Base price $9,975.00. A/C was $700.00, cruise control $200.00, power steering $265.00 and manually operated tilt and slide sunroof $445.00, plus $300.00 destination charge for a total of $11,885.00. This VW was the car I bought because the 944 was out of my price range while saving to build a house. Funny thing is I got the very 944 that I saw running around town, just 26 years later
Wish I had keep the window sticker to my 87 16V Scirroco but I gave it to the new owner price on that one had gone up to $15,300.00 if memory serves me correctly. The German mark was gaining value and all German cars were climbing in price in the 80s. I know the base price on my 89 S2 was $45,000.00. I think that's about $78,000.00 in todays money.
