AC Compressor

Would anyone have an idea where to locate an AC compressor rebuild kit? My 84 has the original unit and, although she is leaking oil, the unit still works. I'm interested in rebuilding the compressor rather than replacement. Thanks for the help!

i rebuilt mine once but you have to be very careful with the shaft seal, otherwise it will leak again soon...

i finally gave in and bought a factory-rebuilt unit from pelican a few weeks ago. will install soon.

Thanks for the link! I have the same sentiment as the unit is 30yrs old. It may be worth it to try anyway...

Disassemble the compressor first before you buy the seal kit. The cylinders do not have sleeves and the pistons do not have rings (post 83 models). So if you see wear it is not economical to jig bore or jig grind the case halves. As well, the wobble plate can become worn beyond repair as well.

Great suggestion, thank you. Is there a step by step tutorial anywhere on performing this R&R? There's some video or pictorial on just about everything else with these cars and, since this is my first venture, I don't want to screw it up worse than it is...
