Wont turn over
Would any of you guys happen to know what voltage I should be reading at solenoid trigger wire on starter when key is turned? I'm getting a reading of 10.58v
!2.59v at battery… Normal? Thanks, Mike |
I forgot to mention it's on an 86 1/2 944

It should read the battery voltage. Check your wiring and your ignition switch.

Check for an aftermarket alarm or splicing on the steering column harness. Any butt connectors will cause an increase in resistance and a voltage drop. If you find any splices on the wire to the ignition switch, get a soldering iron and shrink tube for proper fix.
Are you measuring the voltage with the wire disconnected from the starter or while cranking and connected to the solenoid? |
Checked while key is turned and connected to solenoid… It doesn't turn over just one click. I thought that I read a long while back that it isn't supposed to be 12 volts… More like 8 or 10 point something. But I can't find where I read that.
