Loud fuel pumpfuel system leakdown meaning

1987 924s.i have an extremely loud buzzing fuel pump. The car will only start with a "jumpered" dme relay. I have tried multiple new dme relay and installed a new fuel pump.. The new pump ran quiet for a few days now it is loud buzzing again. Dme relay still needs to be jumpered to start. So i completed a fuel pressure test to check fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure is within range per Clarks garage specs. But 20 minute fuel system leakdown is over 10 psi higher than specs.what does this mean if anythindmeg? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the strainer on the fuel tank? Pressure is one thing but "flow" is another. If you're strainer is partially plugged you won't get enough to run and the pump will be cavitating and making that buzzing sound.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Take out your sending unit in the hatch area under the mat and inspect the strainer and the tank for debris. You could also blow air through the line that goes into the tank as there could be an obstruction that is causing your fuel pump to labor.

thank you gentlemen!I have been reading about the strainer. Considering servicing it. Would that cause the dme relay to not function without being jumped?

you may be generating too much voltage or heat because of the laboring fuel pump that me also be causing the problems with your relay.
