Ummm, can you buy red lenses? If not then no it's not to UNCLE BENS I mean as long as you did a good job. If yes,... UNCLE BENS!!! Hey, is there a law that says the lenses have to be a certain color?

Many others have painted their lenses. Not ricey, it looks really nice. Nice Carrera GT by the way!

I don't think it looks bad at all... hey the 968 tail lights are are red right?
This post may be somewhat toung in cheek but aren't we takeing the rice thing a little overboard?
I mean...
If I put a electric radio antena on my car is it?
If I put these wheels...
Or those seat covers...

I know some of you here on the board are young and still very concerned about how other view you and your car but take it from one old dog who has been kicked around a few times. Ten years from now you won't remember or care about the people you are so badly trying to maintain some kind of image for. What you will remember is how much fun you had with that crazy car you had and the wild/stupid things you did with and to it!
So if painting you tail lights, changing your muffler, or putting stickers on your car, make you feel good I say go for it!
Can I get an Amen?

Rice is all in the eyes of the beholder. I mean, there are things that are blatantly rice (useless gauges, excessive stickers, the ever famous fart tube muffler, etc etc) but as far as simple things to modernize the car, or make it more able of performing the tasks you require of it, it's not rice. My point is this, if the modifications you pursue are ones which serve a purpose, then they are not rice. If they serve no purpose at all, or they are in actuality detrimental to the overall performace or appearance, they are rice.

Hey, check it out,... RICE = CHEESY! Lets re-word his question, does my car look cheesy with my tail lights painted red? Not at all. You really shouldn't care what other people think about car or what you do to your car, I mean it's car! Im going to rice out my car a little. Just a little though.

.......so what's the difference between FRANKYDOOM painting his rear light cluster red and me wanting a clear cluster?!?!?...........when I said clear before I meant light the clear front indicator lenses like for the 964.

Basically the same colour (i have spelt it right!........Tomato To'mate'o!) as the reversing light

Frankydoom:
I did the same treatment, leaving a white space for backup lights, then after 10 minutes, decided to paint it all red. In NJ, inspection checks for backup lights, but I'm not due back until May 2004 so until then it's not a concern. I left the turn signals amber, but if I ever find that can of spray paint in my garage I'll make that red too. Yes, imho this 30 minute changeover makes a huge difference. This, and stainless steel door sills are the only non-stock areas of my car.

It is all a matter of taste - the clear lenses on the front are not rice (they are actually euro), red tailights with the chrome background and a clear cover just look like what you would see on a rice car that we all slam so much - not to mention the fact that they aren't made for the 944 (at least here in the US)

Avoid the dark side young padewan, come to the light.

(I know you spelt it correctly - colour, centre, theatre, etc...I lived over there for a while, I can even tell the difference between England, Great Britain and the UK)
