944 mirror
Hello, does any body know how the side view mirror (glass) was originally attached to the backing plate/ was it glued or bonded from the factory?
Thanks so much mb |

Depends on the year.
Early cars have clips: a flat tipped screw drive should work. I beleive the later cars have a bayonet style mechcanism. Clarks Garage has links showing this.

Both mine have fallen out in the last month! Looks like they were glued to the heated backplate. I epoxied them back in place. Luckily only one gad minor chips having bounced down the road!

It must be the season! My Father had a mirror glass fall out of his 944 the other day. Some epoxy seems to have fixed it.
