Help me get Porsche to make glass for our 968's

Hey everyone, there is no Porsche 968 glass at the moment in the USA according to my 3 weeks of searching. The dealers want 1K to ship it in from Germany, which is unacceptable since aftermarket glass (non dealer) was only $250 about a year ago. This is price gouging at its finest since 1k is about 1/8th to 1/10th the value of most of the 968 cars. (I know insurance, but that's not the point, some of us don't want insurance involved... higher rates for sure )

I've called and written Porsche USA to request that they find an aftermarket company and order some glass for their 968 owners so we can be able to secure glass quickly and at a reasonable price.

Can you please contact them as well and let them know YOU need to be able to get windshields when you need them at a proper price?

Or if anyone knows someone at Pelican, maybe they would like our business and order up a run of glass for the community, God knows they would sell it since there is none in the USA.

We can make this happen if enough people ask politely.

Here is the Porsche contact link.

I know it seems LOL funny, but I actually have called several dealers around the country and a ton of glass companies around the country, flordia, California, NJ, texas, WA, even manufacturers and wreckers and can't find the windshield.

The best price I was quoted was 780 for the glass and 250 to ship it by freaking boat from Germany and then by rail to my location!!! INSANE

So if you have a supply or know FOR SURE someone who has it, man I'd be grateful for the info.

the 944 glass is available cheap, but not the 968 coupe glass

Thing is, they will quote you 360 installed until they try and order it... then they call you back with a new quote and a month lead time.

What's different between the late 944 and 968 windshields?

99% sure the 85.5+ windshield are a swap for the 968.

well maybe, I've never seen them out if the car side by side. but talking to many glass companies which I asked the same question, all of them said there was a difference, and also read on rennlist a few guys going back and forth about it and seems the 968 one is slightly different in size and curve. but I'm no expert.

There is a difference in materials and design structured used necessitated by impact of air bags against the windshield in a crash. The windshield must be built for both impacts from within, and without, as opposed to earlier model's without airbags.

This is I believe the primary difference.
