Are late and early park brake assemblies the same?
Gents, we're almost finished Mand's 87 944 but the park brake needs attention.
I spent yesterday sussing the cable adjuster in the cockpit and when I pulled the rear wheels, lo and behold!, I found no star wheel and couldn't see any park brake through the adjusting hole in the rotor. I can cobble together the right stuff but all our parts cars are early. Will the park brake parts (shoes, springs, star wheel, etc.) swap over from early to late? Thanks!

It seems all parts are the same except the lower return spring. Anyone got a pic of a late model park brake lower return spring? Will the early spring work? Thanks! Never mind... Did my homework and the part numbers differ. Anyone know what the difference is? The images on Pelican show the same part but give a different number. Last edited by Slam; 06-26-2014 at 11:43 AM.. |

George, you were absolutely right, as usual. I completely rebuilt the park brake system on Mand's 87 using ALL early parts, from the cable out to the shoes, and it all works perfectly well.
Cheers! |
