Supercharged 1984 944

I have been working on this project for a while now and it's almost done. I put an Eaton M90 from a Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe on my 944. here's some pics:

Looks great. What's left?

I am waiting for my Rogue tuning DME to show up, should have it this week. And I need to tie up some of the wiring. I also need a boost gauge, install my header and wideband o2 kit. Otherwise it's pretty much ready to fire.

I finally got it down off the jackstands after almost a year, sporting my new-to-me Simmons 3pc forged 17" wheels.

Thanks.

17 x 7.5 up front with a 235/45/17 and 17 x 9 in the rear with a 255/40/17. Fits and looks perfect IMO.

Really nice. Did you say what youre going to do about the bumper? You could put a turbo nose on since you are gonna be super'd. So how much hp and tq does the charger add and how is it going to eb diff than a turbo? I have a 951 by the way.

I have a GT racing fibreglass turbo nose conversion in the garage. I also have a Joe Toth splitter for it as well. It's not on yet because I still have to button up some of the wiring in there. The FG nose needs some repair too, I hit some cones at an autoX last year and damaged it.

Looking good!

Be sure to post a video when you first fire her up. It's like being there with you when it happens.

Thumbs up

The plumbing and mountings etc look like a work of art! Did you bend all the pipes yourself? It looks very OE, which I love.
Have you any more pictures of the build stages? I have just bought a car with the aim of going the same way, how do you find rogue engineering to deal with?

The pipes I used are mandrel bends that are TIG welded together for a very seamless look. I have a few pics of the build stages, I can email you some if you'd like?
Joshua at Rogue is a very busy guy that works his butt off to help us 944 guys, especially with custom stuff like this. You have to be patient but it's worth the wait. I loved his NA-Tune before I went SC, I haven't run it since as my Rogue tuned DME is on the way! Ill be sure to report on how it runs as soon as I know.

At your request, here's some more pictures:

This is showing the lower rad mount I had to fab up to accommodate the Turbo rad I installed. I kept my NA fans and just made some small tabs to pick up the existing mounting holes. Also shows the K&N filter that I still need to fab a shroud for.

This shows the Bosch bypass valve setup and also the custom MAF housing I made up.

My current project, the AEM UEGO wideband o2.

This is a good overhead shot of the SC showing the boost gauge fitting, also note the SS upper rad hose and the cranckcase vent inlet on the SC inlet.

This shows my header and the challenges of piping it up under the car. It's a nice piece but man is it close to the engine.

overhead shot of the header.

Today I hope to have the exhaust and wideband in. Gonna go watch the Italian Grand Prix now.

Fabbed up the exhaust mid-pipe, I have a Dansk rear section already and I welded in the bung for my wideband o2.

It's alive!!! I just drove it around the street. Sounds incredible with the header and exhaust and the blower whine is fantastic! I only gave it part throttle and it pulls hard. Love it!

Props to Joshua at Rogue Tuning, without him and his MAF and base tune this project wouldn't have happened.

Darren,

How have you made the Bosch bypass valve setup? Are you using the 951 injectors and what are the ratio for the pulleys for driving the SC??

Nice project

Looks great - much better than some of the "kits" that flash up around here from time to time.

If you are thinking about doing a project like this I'd skip entirely over the 951 injectors for two reasons:
1) they are a weird impedance, 5.5 ohms versus the common 2.4-2.8 like the NAs or 12-14ohms like GM/Ford
2) they are old...the newest ones are 25 y.o and there are bigger, better flowing pieces that are new available for under $200/set

yup - that's exactly why i have never adapted my kit to the 944. it wouldn't be hard, and it could also carry the CARB certification, but with the head unit alone costing more than most of the cars are worth, i doubt it will ever happen.
